Winchester Street Public School

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on providing a place of safety and connection, by building supportive relationships and a sense of belonging and community for all students at Winchester Street Public School.

We are doing this to build a learning environment that enables equitable outcomes for all students.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Build capacity in understanding how our brains and experiences impact our ability to regulate our emotions and our behaviour.
  • Engage students and staff in restorative conversations by helping students understand interpersonal conflicts.
  • Celebrate and promote a sense of belonging for students in our diverse school community through culturally responsive pedagogy.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about how do we solve problems with peers at school?
  • Try to identify the type of conflict your child is experiencing at school at home.
  • Check out this resource Is It Bullying? It’s about defining conflict, rude, mean and bullying behaviours.
